Our Story

Big Papa’s all started as a passion to establish a restaurant in the city the Torres family already had deep roots, Tehachapi, CA. A place known more and more for great food and atmosphere, the Torres family had an idea and opportunity to bring something back they felt was missing. An American Steakhouse that truly caters to the local families as well as those visiting from out of town.

The vision included a dedication to great food and service staff, a rustic balance of casual & fine dining, and a place that all appetites will find an appropriate dish.

The desire to stay true to the American Steakhouse but also recognize the diversity needed in a restaurant to make vegetarians, vegans and those with specific allergy requirements feel comfortable and welcome was important. The menu was designed to substitute and modify for almost every diet need and is supported by strict measures to prevent cross-contamination, including completely different prep stations, cutting boards, knives, etc. Big Papa’s is a place where special diets remain safe.
